PM Barre Says Judicial Reforms Key to Good Governance
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal government of Somalia Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre has said that Somalia needs a trustworthy judicial system to bolster its war against corruption and promote good governance.
The Prime Minister made the remarks in his keynote speech during the closing ceremony of the 7th Judicial Conference in Mogadishu and at the same time highlighted the government’s dedicated efforts towards judicial reforms aimed at restoring public trust.
Barre stated that there is an urgent need for Somalia to modernize its judiciary so as to enhance transparency and justice.
“You are witnessing a significant change in the country’s judicial system, which has restored the trust of the Somali people in our justice system. This transformation has been made possible through your relentless efforts,” he stated.
PM Barre also reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding the independence of the judiciary and providing all necessary support and urged the judiciary to refine and update laws and regulations to ensure they align with the constitution and Islamic law, thereby reinforcing legal frameworks that bolster public confidence.
The Prime Minister’s remarks reflect the administration’s strategic focus on judicial reform as a cornerstone of Somalia’s developmental agenda, emphasizing the judiciary’s critical role in fostering transparency and justice across the nation.
