PM Barre Stresses Somalia’s Potential for Investment During the South Korea-Africa Summit

GOOBJOOG NEWS | SEOUL: Federal Republic of Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has said that Somalia holds a promising potential for collaboration and investment.

Addressing the 2024 South Korea-Africa summit which officially opened on Tuesday in Seoul, PM Barre also underlined the recent progress in stability and economic development in Somalia.

He also underscored the significance of shared growth, sustainability, and solidarity between the Republic of Korea and African countries.

In an effort to attract Korean businesses and foster partnerships, Somalia presents opportunities in natural resources, agriculture, and renewable energy sectors, the Prime Minister’s speech also made a poignant call for unity in tackling pressing global issues such as climate change and health emergencies.

The summit, which brings together participants from 48 African countries, will address global challenges including climate change, food shortages, and health issues.

During his stay in Seoul, he will also hold separate meetings with the leaders participating in the conference to discuss the general situation in Somalia.

At the opening of the summit, President Yoon Suk Yeol announced billions of dollars in new aid and investment support for Africa as South Korea looks to boost trade ties with the continent.
