PM Hamza visits victims of Hayat Hotel attack, vows government will take responsibility

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, on Sunday evening visited the wounded victims of Friday’s terrorist attack on Hayat hotel in Mogadishu.

Prime Minister Hamza promised that the government would airlift seriously injured people who couldn’t be treated locally to other countries for further medical treatment.

Speaking after seeing the injured victims of the attack in Erdogan and Medina hospitals, the Premier said that the government would take responsibility for what transpired following the Al-Shabaab attack on Hayat Hotel, and vowed that those who neglected their duties would be held accountable.

Prime Minister Hamza thanked the Somali forces for gallantly responding to the attack, and paid tribute to those who lost their lives while trying to save the lives of their fellow Somalis, noting that they would forever be remembered as heroes.

He also sent his condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones and prayed for speedy recovery to those injured.

According to the Somali Minister of Health Dr. Ali Haji Adan, 21 people were killed and 117 others wounded in the horrific Hayat hotel attack that started on Friday evening and ended 30 hours later.
