GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble last night chaired a meeting of the National Consultative Council comprising the five Somali state presidents and the Governor of Benadir via zoom.

The meeting discussed the ongoing Parliamentary elections in the regional administrations and how to expedite the process in order to beat the February 25 deadline set by the National Consultative Assembly at the January 9 meeting.

The Consultative Council reiterated their commitment to ensure that the election process is expedited and a timely and credible election is delivered to the Somali People.

The meeting also discussed the country’s state of security as well as the drought situation and how to address the two pertinent issues.

Last night’s meeting came hours after the US issued sanctions to Somali leaders responsible for scuttling the country’s democracy and undermining elections, with Farmaajo leading the pack.
