PM Roble, President Madobe condemns attack during swearing in ceremony of elected MPs from El-Wak
GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: The Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has condemned with the strongest terms possible Monday’s attack on the Upper House while the swearing in ceremony of newly elected MPs from El-Wak district was taking place in Mogadishu.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister, the premier warned the Somali police and intelligence chiefs of involvement in activities aimed at scuttling the electoral process and called on the Somali people to remain vigilant.
Speaking to the House of the people Speaker via phone, Prime Minister Roble commended the courageous conduct of the two Houses of Parliament in the election process and encouraged them to carry out their duties diligently.
The statement by Roble echoed an earlier statement issued by the Jubaland State President condemning the recent attack on the Speaker of the House of Representatives, stating that those found culpable of carrying out illegal orders issued by the outgoing president to thwart the upcoming elections would be held responsible.
