Police Commissioner, prominent journalist among those killed in Mogadishu explosion

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Police have identified some of the victims of today’s tragic bomb explosion, which occurred this afternoon at the Ministry of Education headquarters in Mogadishu.

Hussein Aded Osman, Hodan District Police Commissioner [R]and prominent TV anchor Mohamed Isse Koona [L], are confirmed to have died in the attack carried out by Al-Shabaab, who carried out a similar attack in the same building in 2014.

Police were also looking for relatives of a little girl who was found lying beside her mother, who had already died from the impact of the blast.

Another journalist, Feisal Omer, a photographer working with Reuters, is also said to be wounded in the ongoing attack.

This afternoon’s deadly terror attack comes as the country’s top political leaders are holed up in a 3-day meeting to discuss how to once and for all end the Al-Shaabab menace that is threatening to destroy the fabric of the nation.
