Police in Mogadishu Arrest Man Suspected of Killing TV Journalist

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Police in Mogadishu have arrested a man suspected of shooting dead a former national footballer and TV journalist in Mogadishu.

Banadir Regional Police, Colonel Mahdi Omar Mumin, said the suspect, identified as Sharif Mohamed Ahmed was arrested in Hodan district pending investigations. Ahmed previously served as captain of Sahafi FC  and also played for  Elman and Banadir Telecom..

Until his death, Ahmed was a sports journalist with Astan TV.

The suspect is reported to have shot dead the deceased who was on a motorcycle under unclear circumstances.

The suspect was reportedly working as a security guard in a private facility in the city.
