Police officer sentenced to death for fatally stabbing civilian

GOOBJOOG NEWS|The Somali military court on Wednesday sentenced a police officer attached to the South West Administration to death after he was found guilty of killing a civilian.

 Mohamed Abdikadir Ibrahim was found guilty of stabbing another person to death with a knife following an argument that arose between the two on April 25.

 Delivering the verdict, the court said it had found sufficient evidence implicating Mohamed Abdikadir Ibrahim in the stabbing to death of Abdifitah Abdullahi Ali in Afgoye town, Lower Shabelle region, on April 25, and sentenced him to death by firing squad.

 However, the court allowed the accused to appeal the jury’s decision within a reasonable time.
