Police Officer Sentenced to Death for Killing Motorist in Mogadishu

GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: A police officer in Mogadishu was today sentenced to death for killing a motorist.

The Military Court of First Instance condemned Mohamed Mohamud Madobe to face the firing squad after he was found guilty of shooting dead a motorist identified as Ahmed Nur Tohoow.

According to the prosecution, the police officer stopped Tohoow as he drove around Daru Salaaam area in the outskirts of Mogadishu and demanded he surrenders a gun he was in possession of.

However, Tohoow declined to hand over the firearm and the police officer shot at him killing him on the spot.

The defendant has the chance of appeal within 14 days.
