Police officer to spend 8 years in military jail for robbery

A military court in Mogadishu has sentenced a police officer accused of robbery in Karan district in Mogadishu to eight years in a military jail.
The officer identified as constable Ahmed Mohamed Hussein was found guilty of robbing locals a mobile phone and their luggage.
According to the court proceedings, Constable Hussein was arrested on March 10 following complaints from members of the public. Seven people accused the police officer of robbing them. In one instance, Hussein is accused of robbing a local a mobile phone valued at $604.
Deputy prosecutor Muumin Hussein Abdullahi told the court Hussein robbed residents of Jamhuriya village in Karan district of the luggage as they headed home from their work.
