Police seize explosive devices in Baidoa after security operation
Somali police have seized explosives in a counter-terrorism raid aimed at securing the administrative capital of Southwest State, security authorities said.
Baay police commissioner, Mahad Abdirahman who spoke the reporters said the explosives could have been used to kill and maim innocent people in Baidoa.
“We conducted a large-scale security operation in the town following intelligence information that a number of people with intention of planning attacks are hiding in the city,” Abdirahman.
In a similar operation, Abdirahman said police also netted a number of suspects.
“We are doubling up our efforts to ensure we rid the city off Al-Shabaab remnants,” he said.
Police have in the recent past conducted several operations in several parts of Baidoa town in a bid to enhance security following a number of public tip off.
