GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: Somali Police Force spokesman Abdifatah Aden Hassan has given reasons as to why the First Deputy Speaker of the House of the People Abduweli Ibrahim Mudey was denied entry to Barawe, where he is running for re-election.

The Police Spokesman said Abdi Sheikh Ibrahim Mudey had acted contrary to security protocols after he took with him a large contingent of troops- 57 complete with weapons, to the airport for Barawe. Hassan added that there was no way such a large number of weapons and troops would enter the city that was due to hold sensitive elections.

The Somali Police Spokesman stated that any candidate intending to visit areas where elections are to be done should not be accompanied by more than five bodyguards.

“Abdiweli Mudey was carrying a large contingent of troops carrying heavy weapons. Candidates will not be allowed to carry ammunition and heavy weapons to the polling stations. Three to four soldiers will be allowed,” said the police spokesman.

Abdiweli Mudey was denied boarding a plane from Mogadishu to Barawe yesterday by the South West administration as he was going to defend his seat, HOP 145.
