GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Ahmed Awil Warsame has been elected chairman of the Elections Dispute Resolution Committee (EDRC) in an election conducted in Afisyoni area near Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu.
The 21 member team elected Warsame to replace Hussein Mohamud who was axed along with six other members by Prime Minister Mohamed Roble on December 21, 2021.
Roble reportedly removed Mohamud and his team for failing to block the approval of the election of acting intelligence chief Yasin Farey. EDCR okayed Farey’s election despite widespread allegations of irregularities.
Hussein was allied to PM Roble.
