Military Strike Destroys Al-Shabaab Weapon Depots in Central Somalia

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali government forces carried out a precision military strike in the Howlwadaag area of Aadan Yabaal district, destroying two Al-Shabaab facilities used for weapon storage and vehicle-borne explosive preparations.
According to security officials, one of the targeted compounds was reportedly used to rig vehicles with explosives. Witnesses said the site was set ablaze during the operation, signaling heavy damage.
Military sources described the raid as a strategic blow to Al-Shabaab’s logistical network in the central region.
“This marks a key step in disrupting the group’s capacity to launch attacks,” a senior army officer told reporters, requesting anonymity due to the sensitivity of the operation.
The Somali National Army (SNA), backed by local intelligence, has intensified operations across Galgaduud and Middle Shabelle in recent months to degrade Al-Shabaab’s strongholds.
Further details and visual documentation of the operation are expected to be released by the Ministry of Defence.
