President declares Bula-burde State capital for Hiraan and Middle Shabelle

Somalia’s president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has declared Bullaburde as State capital city in a move that analysts say may deepen the already turbulent political crisis in a region known for clan rivalry.

In a presidential decree carrying the protocol number LR. 86: 19/12/2015 the president of Somalia named the town as the capital administrative of the upcoming State which its conference as to kick off soon.
“After critical talks with the region’s stakeholders, we have come to conclusion of declaring Bullaburde as the capital of the regional state of Hiraan and Middle Shabelle regions” reads presidential decree.

This development comes at a time Political spoils in state formation process have been divided on multiple fronts: stakeholders negotiate the location of the conference, where the capital will be, and divide top positions among clans.

Federal delegates who reportedly paid visit to the region last week have been struggling to bring the standoffs to an end as rival clans in the region were at odds over land dispute.
