President Farmaajo to travel to Doha today

GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: Somalia’s President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and a delegation led by him are heading to Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Saturday as announced by Qatar News Agency.

The outgoing President is on Sunday expected to meet with Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani at the Amiri Diwan, to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them, in addition to a number of issues of common interest.

Somalia’s government and the Office of the President have not immediately commented on Farmajo’s planned visit to Qatar.

The President’s visit comes amid pressure from the international community on Somali politicians to conclude parliamentary elections even after the country failed to meet the February 25 deadline, set by the National Consultative Assembly.
