President Mohamed Farmaajo has stripped the embattled former deputy intelligence chief Abdalla Abdalla of his membership and security clearance in the intelligence agency, NISA following what the Presidency said was a violation of the law and rules governing the agency.

In statement Saturday evening, the Presidency said Abdalla would no longer serve in any capacity in the agency following recommendations from the Director General Hussein Osman Hussein.

“Deputy director general Abdalla Abdalla Mohamed was removed from all the military ranks, and was discharged from the office of the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency following an act of violations against the law of the armed forces and the law of the National Security and Intelligence Agency,” said the decree.

Abdalla who was replaced by former Villa Somalia chief of staff Fahad Yassin had been removed from the post in July and still retained membership to the agency. But the agency cut off relations with him late last month on accounts of disclosing classified information during a media interview.
