President Hassan Sheikh and UK Ambassador Discuss Security, Politics and Humanitarian Preparedness
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has met the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Somalia, Charles King, for talks on the partnership between the two countries and their shared priorities.
In a post on X, Ambassador King described the meeting as an honour and said the discussions focused on humanitarian preparedness, security and stability, and Somalia’s political situation.
The talks come as Somalia confronts continuing security threats, humanitarian pressures and political disagreements that could affect the country’s stability and state-building efforts.
Humanitarian preparedness remains a key concern because recurrent droughts, flooding and displacement continue to expose vulnerable communities to food insecurity and disruptions to essential services.
Security cooperation is also an important part of relations between Mogadishu and London. Somalia continues its campaign against Al-Shabaab while working with international partners to strengthen national security institutions and support long-term stability.
Ambassador King said the United Kingdom remained committed to supporting a prosperous and stable future for Somalia.
The meeting reflects continuing diplomatic engagement between the Somali government and the United Kingdom on issues affecting Somalia’s political development, humanitarian response and security.
