President Hassan Sheikh appoints new Navy Commandant

GOOBJOOG NEWS – MOGADISHU: His Excellency President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has appointed Major General Mubarak Abdiqani Muse as the new Commander of the Naval and Coastal Defense Forces of the Somali National Army.

The president instructed the new commander to speed up national plans for the reconstruction of the Somali Navy, capable of securing the country’s waterways and vast coastlines, according to a statement by the State News Agency, SONNA.

Gen. Mubarak is one of the officers who received training in Eritrea, and his appointment came while he was still in Asmara. He is expected to arrive in Mogadishu in the coming days.
