President Hassan Sheikh to travel to Baidoa today, his first visit since taking office

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BAIDOA: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is on Tuesday expected to visit Baidoa, the capital of Somalia’s South West State, for his inaugural assignment outside Mogadishu, his first trip since taking office on May 15.

Preparations are currently in high gear in the town of Baidoa ahead of the president’s visit, with an advance team led by the Chief of staff Hussein Sheikh Mohamud already in the Bay capital ready to receive the Somali president.

Villa Somalia has not provided details regarding the President’s, but it is expected that he will hold reconciliation talks with the South West state President Abdiaziz  Laftagaren, a staunch Farmaajo ally.

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will also hold a series of meetings with top South West government officials, military officials and various sections of the society, and thereafter, make a similar visit to Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug.
