President Hassan Sheikh, U.S. Advisor Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia held a telephone conversation with Mr. Massad Boulos, the Senior Advisor to the United States Government on African Affairs, to discuss ways of deepening cooperation between Somalia and the United States in areas of mutual interest.
According to the Somali Presidency, the discussion focused on strengthening the long-standing partnership between the two nations, particularly in governance, peacebuilding, and regional stability. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing peace and prosperity in the Horn of Africa.
President Hassan Sheikh praised the United States for its continued support in Somalia’s state-building process, noting Washington’s significant role in strengthening the country’s security institutions, humanitarian response, and democratic governance.
He also commended the recent diplomatic efforts of former U.S. President Donald Trump, describing them as an important contribution to global peace and stability.
The call comes amid ongoing efforts by the Somali government to reinforce diplomatic and strategic relations with international partners. Over the past year, Mogadishu has intensified its engagement with allies such as the U.S., Turkey, and the European Union to bolster national security, promote economic growth, and attract development investment.
Officials say the dialogue between President Hassan Sheikh and Mr. Boulos reflects Somalia’s broader vision of building strong, cooperative ties that support long-term peace and stability in the region.
