President Mohamud Backs Jordan, Qatar, Calls Attacks Violations of International Law
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has reaffirmed Somalia’s full solidarity with Jordan and Qatar, warning that attacks on their territories would constitute clear violations of international law.
In separate phone calls, the president spoke with Abdullah II and Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to discuss escalating tensions in the Middle East and their broader regional implications.
During the conversations, President Mohamud underscored the serious consequences of continued military escalation and stressed the urgent need for de-escalation through diplomatic means.
He expressed firm support for Jordan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, describing any attack on its territory as unjustifiable under international law.
In his call with the Emir of Qatar, the Somali leader reiterated Somalia’s backing for Qatar’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and airspace, similarly condemning any aggression against the Gulf state.
The outreach highlights Mogadishu’s diplomatic engagement as regional tensions intensify, with Somalia aligning itself with calls for restraint and respect for international law.
