GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has called for stronger regional economic cooperation as he closed the 27th Meeting of Finance Ministers of the Horn of Africa Initiative Forum, hosted for the first time in Mogadishu.

In his address, president Mohamud said closer coordination among Horn of Africa states was essential to promoting economic stability, sharing expertise and addressing common financial and development challenges facing the region.

The president said Somalia’s hosting of the high-level meeting reflected the country’s recovery and growing international confidence, noting that Mogadishu was increasingly able to convene major regional and international forums.

He said Somalia’s current chairmanship of the initiative provided an opportunity to advance shared economic interests, strengthen regional partnerships and push for practical outcomes that support growth and resilience across the Horn of Africa.

The forum brought together finance ministers and senior officials from member states to discuss regional economic cooperation and policy alignment.
