President Mohamud says he is confident on war against Al- Shabaab

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has expressed confidence that his government will succeed in its war against terrorism.

Speaking during a graduation ceremony of units of the Somali National Army at General Gordon Training Academy in Mogadishu, the president said his government was committed to wipe the militants out of Somalia and ensure peace and stability is restored in all regions.

The new graduates which include the section 26 of the National Guard who received training recently in Eritrea will join the government’s renewed effort to completely eliminate Al-Shabaab from Somalia.

The troops are the second batch of the National Guard Division to join the operation to liberate the country from Al-Shabaab and will be deployed to areas that have been liberated from the militants to supports efforts to restore peace and stability in these areas.

President Mohamud urged them to maintain discipline and conduct their duties professionally so that they can gain the full trust of the people of Somalia.

The president also held a special meeting with military officials who briefed him on the progress of the war against terrorism and stabilization of areas that have been liberated.
