President Mohamud Congratulates Tanzania’s Samia Suluhu on Election Win

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has extended his congratulations to Tanzania’s President‐elect Samia Suluhu Hassan on her re-election, calling it a demonstration of the Tanzanian people’s trust and pledging to deepen ties.

“I extend warm congratulations to H.E. Samia Suluhu… Her victory reflects the trust and confidence of the Tanzanian people,” President Mohamud said in a statement. He added that Somalia looked forward to strengthening brotherly relations and regional cooperation for peace and prosperity.

The endorsement comes in the wake of the October 29 general election in Tanzania, in which President Suluhu, who first assumed office in March 2021 following the death of her predecessor, ran for a full term.

Her re-election was formally confirmed by the country’s electoral commission, which reported that she had won roughly 97 % of the vote.
