GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU:  Federal Republic of Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has commended the Somali National Army’s Danaab commandos for their expertise, professionalism and crucial role it plays in the fight against terrorism in Somalia.

The president spoke at the Villa Somalia palace in Mogadishu Tuesday when he hosted the commandos who took part in a recent US-led military exercise dubbed “Justified Accord” in Kenya, where he praised the troops for their exceptional performance and acknowledged the pivotal role they played in the exercise.

The dinner meeting served as a platform for President Mohamud to express his appreciation for the commandos’ competence, expertise, and the positive image they projected for Somalia on the international stage.

He emphasized the importance of highlighting Somalia’s progress and capabilities, despite the challenges the country has faced over the years.

President Mohamud instructed the Somali National Army to continue fulfilling their national duty, noting the significant progress made in liberating key areas, including Mogadishu to Galkayo and Mogadishu to Harardhere.

However, he stressed the need to expedite operations in HirShabelle and Galmudug to fully secure these regions from the threats.

The President outlined the strategic plan to transfer the national army forces to bases in the southern regions currently occupied by the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) forces. He underscored the importance of reclaiming these areas from Alshabab control to ensure stability and security for all citizens.
