President Mohamud Hails National Forum as Step Toward Political Stability

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal government of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has welcomed the outcomes of a four-day National Consultative Forum in Mogadishu, calling it a milestone in efforts to advance political stability and state-building.

The forum, held from June 16 to 19, brought together senior leaders from Somalia’s federal and regional governments, political parties, religious leaders, and civil society groups. Discussions focused on key national issues including security, constitutional reforms, elections, and the fight against terrorism.

“This forum was inclusive and participatory, reflecting the collective will of the Somali people,” said President Mohamud, who convened and opened the talks. He stressed the importance of dialogue in addressing Somalia’s complex political challenges.

The president is expected to release a detailed statement outlining agreed-upon priorities and the roadmap for implementation. Participants said the forum marks progress in building consensus on Somalia’s future governance.

Observers see the forum as a boost to ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening institutions and preparing the country for a democratic transition.
