President Mohamud Holds Talks With South West Elders on Peace and Governance

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BAIDOA: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a key meeting with traditional elders from South West State, focusing on strengthening peacebuilding efforts, advancing reconciliation, and reinforcing the country’s democratization process.
The discussions also addressed ongoing humanitarian concerns, particularly drought response, as well as broader efforts to enhance governance and state-building in the region.
President Hassan Sheikh commended the elders for their longstanding role in preserving social cohesion, resolving community disputes, and supporting Somalia’s state-building agenda. He emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration between government institutions and traditional leadership to achieve lasting stability and development.
In response, the South West traditional elders expressed appreciation for the President’s visit and the federal government’s continued commitment to peace, reconciliation, and development initiatives in the region. They reaffirmed their support for national efforts aimed at strengthening governance and deepening democratic processes across the country.
