President Mohamud Hosts UK Ambassador, Discusses bilateral Relations
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal government of Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Sunday hosted UK Ambassador to Somalia Mike Nithavrianakis at the Villa Somalia in Mogadishu to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
The president conveyed his congratulations to the newly elected UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer saying the United Kingdom and Somalia has enjoyed mutual relations spanning decades.
“I extend my sincere congratulations to Prime Minister Starmer on his election. We look forward to further strengthening our bilateral relations and exploring new avenues of cooperation,” President Mohamud said.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to further collaborate in various sectors including; security, economic development, and governance.
The meeting highlighted ongoing and future initiatives aimed at enhancing the stability and prosperity of Somalia.
On his part, Ambassador Nithavrianakis expressed the UK’s continued support for Somalia’s development and reiterated the importance of the strategic alliance between the two nations.
“The UK remains committed to working closely with Somalia in addressing common challenges and achieving shared goals,” he stated.
