GOOBJOOG NEWS | BERLIN: Federal government of Somalia’s president Hassan Sheilk Mohaud alongside his delegation has arrived in Berlin Germany on an official visit.
The president is scheduled to meet high ranking German officials led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, to discuss ways of enhancing existing bilateral relations between Germany and Somalia, collaboration in the security sector, the new African Union Mission in Somalia, among other key issues.
President Mohamud is also scheduled to participate in the Africa German Investment Conference which is seen as particularly beneficial Somalia which recently benefited from the debt relief program – a major boost to the country as it continues its fragile economic recovery from an ongoing three-decade conflict.
Somalia also has seen major progress in stabilizing the country through its continuous war against the Al-Shabaab group which has seen much of Somalia liberated and normalcy restored.
Also, its recent membership to the East African Cooperation organization has opened new markets for Somalia’s products hence creating more opportunities for its people.
The visit by the president further seeks to cement relations with Germany which has been a long standing ally of Somalia besides being a member of the European Union – which has largely supported the East African nation’s development progress.
In recent years, Europe, Asia, and America have organized similar high-level engagements with African countries to enhance diplomatic ties and explore investment opportunities that connect these regions with the African continent.
