President Mohamud Lands in Djibouti in Regional Diplomatic Shuttle
GOOBJOOG NEWS|DJIBOUTI: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Djibouti Sunday night as part of his whirlwind tours of the region.
The President and his delegation landed in the capital Djibouti where he is expected to hold bilateral talks with his host, President Ismail Geele.
The President was on Sunday in Burundi where he held talks with President Evariste Ndayishimiye. President Mohamud thanked Burundi for its continued support through ATMIS where its troops serve in.
Earlier on Friday, President Mohamud was in Uganda where he was hosted by President Yoweri Museveni. According to a statement from Villa Somalia, the two sides agreed to strengthen the cooperation between security, business and development, together with increasing the cooperation of trade and investment.
The Somali leader has also recently been to Eritrea and earlier on in Egypt.
Somalia has robustly engaged regional countries ahead of the ATMIS transition to AUSSOM in January 2025. This also comes amid faltering relations between Somalia and Ethiopia following the controversial January 2024 MoU between Ethiopia and the break-away region of Somaliland.
