President Mohamud Launches New School Year, Praises Teachers’ Role in Education Reform

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has opened the 2025/26 school year and praised teachers for their role in strengthening the country’s education system.

The ceremony in Mogadishu, organised by the Ministry of Education, also marked the conclusion of a training programme for 300 teachers drawn from across Somalia.

The initiative aimed to equip educators with modern teaching methods and improve classroom instruction.

President Mohamud commended ministry staff for overseeing national examinations and working to provide Somali children with access to quality and unified education.

He urged the Higher Education Council to focus on university standards and research, saying Somalia’s future depends on the knowledge and skills of its youth.
