President Mohamud Launches Somalia’s Development Roadmap
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal republic of Somalia president Hassan Sheikh MOhamud Wednesday launched the National Transformation Plan (NTP) 2024-2025 program.
This initiative follows a series of consultations and planning sessions, culminating in what has been described as a comprehensive strategy to address Somalia’s multifaceted challenges.
The ambitious plan aims to drive significant progress and development across Somalia over the next two years.
In his remarks, president Mohamud said that the Somali people want transformation and are ready to elect their representatives, adding that direct election is the government’s national priority and that one person, one vote should be aligned with the National Transformation Plan.
The launch ceremony was graced by the presence of the Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen, along with his deputy, several Cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament, representatives of the international community, and other dignitaries.
President Mohamud and other dignitaries at the same time toured the laboratory sections dedicated to the NTP program, where they received detailed briefings from leading officials on the program’s scope and objectives.
The National Transformation Plan is expected to play a pivotal role in Somalia’s journey towards a more prosperous and stable future.
The NTP’s overarching goal is to build on achievements Somalia has made in security and governance reforms including; healthcare, education, and economic sectors to foster sustainable development and create opportunities for its citizens.
Denmark’s prime minister reiterated his country’s commitment to support Somalia’s journey towards recovery, highlighting ongoing and future collaborations.
This commitment is part of a broader international effort to see Somalia stabilized and self-sufficient.
The NTP represents not just a policy document but a national endeavor towards healing and progress, signaling Somalia’s determination to chart a course towards prosperity and peace.
