President Mohamud Meets Elders in Middle Shabelle to Discuss Al-Shabaab Offensive

GOOBJOOG NEWS | JOWHAR: Federal government of Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Thursday held meetings with traditional elders and community leaders in Wargadhi area, Middle Shabelle to discuss their role in the military offensive against Al-Shabaab.

The president stated that the federal government was adequately prepared to continue the offensive and that the Somali National Army was adequately trained and equipped to liberate every inch of Somalia’s territory from the militants.

“The President of the Republic inspected the military base in this area, which provides the Somali Armed Forces with essential technical needs for the front line of the war and the completion of the mission to liberate the country from al-Shabab terrorists,” reads a government statement.

President Mohamud has visited several frontline areas across the country to lead the military offensive against the Al-Shabaab which has so far seen various regions liberated.

The government has also maintained that it is ready to take over security responsibilities from the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia forces who are set to complete the drawdown process from Somalia this year.
