President Mohamud Meets UN Officials to Review Centennial Vision 2060 Progress

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal Republic of Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has said the Centennial Vision 2060 (CV2060) development program being implemented by his government is on progress.

Speaking while meeting UN officials in Mogadishu Tuesday, president Mohamud said that the CV2060 will serve as the foundation for the National Transformation Plan and subsequent medium-term and sectoral plans until 2060.

The program which is being implemented by the National Economic Council of Somalia represents a comprehensive strategy designed to achieve complete and sustainable development by leveraging innovation, economic diversification, sustainable development, social justice, and technological progress.

This Vision, according to the council is critical for Somalia’s future, as the nation faces significant economic and social challenges, including state fragility, poverty, unemployment, corruption, food insecurity, illiteracy, clan-based conflicts, and migration.

The implementation of the Centennial Vision is a significant milestone in the country’s progress toward achieving its development goals.

Among those in attendance were Ms. Mama Keita of UNECA and Mr. George Conway, the UN Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (DSRSG), along with international experts.

Also in attendance were members of the National Economic Council of Somalia.
