President Mohamud meets with the Somali Diaspora in Turkey

GOOBJOOG NEWS|ANKARA: The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, met with members of the Somali Diaspora in Turkey, during his official visit to the Turkish nation.

The President briefed the Somali Diaspora on the overall situation in the country, including the drought that has ravaged several parts of the country and called on the community to assist in rescuing the Somali people affected by the drought.

The Somali Community in Turkey briefed the President on the situation in their host country, and shared their concerns about the needs of the Community in Turkey. 

President Mohamud encouraged them to take advantage of trade, education and investment opportunities in Turkey, promising to discuss the challenges posed with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as diplomats from the two countries work together to promote fruitful cooperation between Somalia and Turkey.

Meanwhile, the President visited the Somali Embassy in Turkey, where he was briefed by diplomats and embassy staff. He urged them to effectively serve the Somali people they represent, as his administration plans to reform and improve the country’s diplomatic system.
