GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal Government of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has paid tribute to Dr. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, head of the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS), following her death, praising her as a key partner in the country’s peace and recovery efforts.

Kacyira, a Rwandan national, was credited with strengthening cooperation between Somalia and the United Nations, advancing humanitarian operations and development projects despite complex security and political challenges.

The president said her work left “a legacy that will be remembered for generations” and extended condolences to her family, the people of Rwanda, and the UN. He described her as “a beacon of hope” whose leadership inspired many Somalis.

Kacyira’s death marks the loss of one of the UN’s most prominent figures in Somalia at a time when the country is navigating a fragile path toward stability.
