President Mohamud Mourns Raila Odinga as ‘Towering Statesman’ and Champion of Democracy

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has offered condolences to Kenya following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, calling him a “towering statesman whose legacy of democracy, justice, and public service will endure.”

In a message to Kenyan President William Ruto, President Mohamud said Somalia stands in solidarity with Kenya during its time of mourning.

“Raila Odinga was a transformative figure in African politics who championed democratic governance and social justice throughout his life,” the Somali leader said, noting that Odinga’s influence extended beyond Kenya and inspired movements for freedom and unity across the region.

President Mohamud conveyed his sympathies to the Odinga family and the Kenyan people, describing Odinga as one of Africa’s most respected political figures.
