President Mohamud Mourns Veteran Health Official Dr Omar Aden Cade
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has offered condolences to the family and colleagues of Dr Omar Aden Cade, a senior health official and long-serving figure in the country’s healthcare system, who has died.
In a statement, the president said Dr Cade had dedicated decades to public service, particularly within the Ministry of Health, where he held several senior roles and helped shape national health policy.
He noted that Dr Cade remained active during Somalia’s years of state collapse and civil war, working on emergency responses and the rebuilding of basic healthcare services at a time when institutions had largely broken down.
“His contribution to the survival and recovery of the health sector will be remembered,” the statement said.
President Mohamud prayed for mercy upon the deceased and expressed solidarity with the Somali medical community, describing Dr Cade’s death as a significant loss to the nation’s health sector.
