President Mohamud Reiterates Federal Government’s Commitment to Fight Terrorism

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal government of Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has stated that his administration remains committed to national development and the fight against terrorism.

Speaking in Mogadishu Wednesday, the president called upon the Somali people to support his administration’s initiatives reiterating the crucial role the citizens play in the realization of these goals.

President Mohamud further said direct elections represents a transformative step for Somalia’s democracy.

“We need to trust the process and give it a chance to succeed,” he said, urging political stakeholders to avoid “spreading fear and anxiety” about the country’s future and political direction.

President Mohamud further highlighted recent military successes against Al-Shabaab and plans to empower Somali security forces.
