President Mohamud says a lot has been achieved in the war against Al-shabaab
GOOBJOOG NEWS | GALMUDUG: Federal Republic of Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has said the National army backed by local forces across the country has made commendable progress in the war against the Al-shabaab militants.
The president made the comments in Dhusamareeb, the capital of Galmudug where he praised the courage and dedication of the National Security forces in liberating the country from the terror group and restoring peace and stability in the country.
He however caution the Somali people against disseminating false information about the government and army’s progress in the ongoing campaign against the militants saying those doing so were aiding the enemy’s cause to destabilize the country.
Mass Graves
Providing clarity on the recent battle in Osweyne, the President refuted Al-Shabaab’s claims of inflicted casualties on the national forces saying that more than 190 militants had been killed in action and that they were buried in mass graves by their counterparts.
He further stated that the government had commenced a probe into the mass graves which he said had been dug by the militants.
President Mohamud also warned that his administration will take a stern action against those using their positions of power to undermine military operations vowing that those who betrayed the cause or sabotaged efforts would face consequences.
Underscoring an unyielding commitment to the war on terror, the President said that no part of Somalia would remain under enemy control, declaring that the country would continue its fight against Al-Shabaab until complete liberation was achieved.
The President also urged the Somali people worldwide to unite in support of the national forces and the government stressing the need for the people and government to combine efforts to secure the future and dignity of the Somali people.
