  President Mohamud Sends Warm Wishes to all Somalis on Eid al-Adha

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal government of Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Sunday joined other government officials in sending warm wishes to the Somalis people as they celebrate Eid Al Adha.

President Mohamud also extended his well wishes to all Islamic nations and also wished Muslim people around the world continued progress, prosperity, and stability.

He also wished the Somali National Army well as they continued defending the nation from the Al-shabaab militants and urged Somali people to embrace forgiveness, seek peaceful resolutions to conflicts and assist those in need.

Prime Minister Barre on his part called for unity among the Somali people and emphasized the federal government’s commitment to ensure prosperity and development in the country and urged them to support the government and the military in its efforts to secure the nation.

Bicameral parliament speaker Sheikh Aden Madobe and Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, along with regional leaders extended their warm wishes to all Somali people, lawmakers, and their families on the Eid occasion.

United Nations in Somalia also joined in the celebrations, emphasizing the importance of strengthening solidarity, tolerance, and stability across the country.

“On behalf of the entire United Nations family in Somalia, I wish you all a peaceful and joyous Eid Al-Adha,” said the UN Secretary-General’s Acting Special Representative for Somalia, James Swan.

The federal government has also announced a four-day holiday for Eid for the public and private sectors.

Eid Al Adha which means  “festival of the sacrifice” also coincides with the Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah, which all Muslims are required to make at least once in their lives.
