President Mohamud Signs Amended Chapters of the Constitution

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal Republic of Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Sunday signed the official amendments to four chapters of the country’s constitution.
The amendments were unanimously approved by Somalia’s bi-cameral parliament Saturday, marking a major step towards completion of the constitution, which has been among the president’s key priorities.
President Mohamud stated that completing the Constitution lays the groundwork for democracy, equality for all Somali citizens, and the strengthening and construction of efficient government institutions.
The signing ceremony for the Constitution was attended by the speakers of the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament and the Parliamentary Review Committee on the Constitution.
