President Mohamud stresses need to conclude constitution review

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal Government of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has emphasized the need to hasten the process of finalizing the constitution saying it is crucial for the establishment of a stable and functional government in Somalia.

The president made the remarks during a meeting with members of the constitutional review committees in Mogadishu who briefed him on the progress and challenges of reviewing and amending the country’s constitution.

The committee noted that the process has ensured the participation of legal experts and the Somali people and expressed their commitment to ensure the process on time.

President Mohamud, who was accompanied by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre said the resolutions agreed upon by the National Consultative Council will contribute to the achievement of the set objectives.

Prime Minister Barre on his part presented the Federal Government’s plan to actively support the process by providing the requisite intellectual and logistical assistance.
