GOOBJOOG NEWS | DOHA: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived in Doha to begin an official visit to Qatar, where he will attend the Doha Forum and hold talks aimed at deepening political and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The president was welcomed at Hamad International Airport by senior Qatari officials, underscoring what both governments describe as steadily strengthening ties. Somalia and Qatar have expanded cooperation in recent years across security, economic development and humanitarian assistance.

President Mohamud is expected to meet Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for discussions on the security situation in the Horn of Africa, Somalia’s stabilisation efforts, and the future direction of bilateral partnership. Other meetings with Qatari leaders are scheduled during the visit.

His participation in the Doha Forum places Somalia at the heart of global debates on security, geopolitics and development. Somali officials say the president will use the platform to advocate for increased international engagement in Somalia’s stabilisation, climate resilience and economic reforms.

The visit comes as Mogadishu seeks to broaden its diplomatic outreach and attract greater investment as part of its long-term state-building agenda.
