President Mohamud Urges Business Leaders to Tap into Opportunities in the New Mogadishu Gateway Complex

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has urged the business community to embrace the newly launched Mogadishu Development Plan, which envisages the development of world facilities including an international convention centre and recreational faiclities among others.

Speaking during a meeting with business leaders Friday night, the president said the initiative presented opportunities for local investors to expand their investments and further contribute to nation-building.

He also lauded the business leaders for their critical contribution in building the country’s economy and urged them to diligently pay their taxes to develop the country. His remarks come amid the recent closure of businesses as traders protested the introduction of a raft of statutory requirements for operating businesses in Mogadishu.

President Mohamud on Wednesday launched the Mogadishu Gateway Complex, a major mixed-use development in Mogadishu, Somalia, that will introduce the country’s first five-star hotel and an international convention centre. Alongside these flagship components, the project includes a modern hospital, a leading school, shopping and residential facilities, and varied recreational amenities.
