GOOBJOOG NEWS | DOHA: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has pressed international partners to align their assistance with Somalia’s national priorities, saying coordinated support is critical as the country pushes forward with security reforms and state-building.

Speaking at a high-level session held on the sidelines of the Doha Forum, Mohamud outlined progress in the government’s campaign against Al-Shabaab, saying Somalia is confronting the group on military, financial and ideological fronts. He said these efforts are beginning to shift the security landscape, though sustained backing remains essential.

The president also updated participants on Somalia’s political roadmap, including moves toward introducing direct elections and accelerating completion of the provisional constitution, steps he described as foundational for long-term stability and rule of law.

Mohamud urged donors to streamline and harmonize their support through Somalia’s National Transformation Plan, warning that fragmented assistance reduces effectiveness. He said stronger coordination would speed up reforms and help the government deliver visible improvements for citizens.

He closed by reaffirming Somalia’s commitment to building institutions capable of supporting security, justice and economic recovery, expressing gratitude to partners that continue to assist the country during what he called a decisive phase in its rebuilding.
