President Mohamud Urges Regional Unity at Ethiopia Dam Inauguration

GOOBJOOG NEWS | ADDIS ABABA: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has urged Horn of Africa nations to work together in managing shared resources, saying stability and prosperity depend on fairness and mutual respect.

Speaking at the inauguration of Ethiopia’s Grand Renaissance Dam, Mohamud said regional progress could only be achieved if countries acted as one community.

“It is not about rejecting one another’s needs, but about finding a balanced approach that ensures fairness and respect for all,” he said. “No nation should be excluded from progress, nor burdened unfairly.”

The Somali leader praised Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed for completing the massive hydroelectric project, adding that the dam should be seen as an opportunity to deepen regional cooperation and development
