GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has called on the country’s newly elected members of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) to serve with integrity and ensure Somalia’s voice is strongly represented within the East African Community (EAC).

Speaking at the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu, President Mohamud said the legislators carry a “national responsibility” to advance Somalia’s economic and political interests in the regional parliament.

He urged them to demonstrate leadership, expertise, and patriotism, emphasizing that their role is crucial in promoting Somalia’s vision for regional cooperation and development.

“Their work must reflect the aspirations of the Somali people and strengthen our standing within the East African Community,” the President said.

The meeting followed Somalia’s recent election of its first EALA representatives — a milestone in the country’s deeper integration into the EAC.
