GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud last night visited the scene of yesterday’s horrific suicide attacks that occurred near Mogadishu’s KM5 Junction.

The President, accompanied by the Somali police chief, Galmudug regional state leader, ministers, and the Mayor of Mogadishu, condemned in the strongest possible terms Saturday’s bomb attack, saying the attack was a “cruel and cowardly terrorist attack on innocent people by the morally bankrupt and criminal Al-Shabab group”.

He instructed the cabinet to deliver emergency medical care to the wounded victims, saying the number of injured people had now risen to 100, with over 300 injured. He added that the fatalities were likely to rise.

A visibly angry president said, “We will defeat and we have already defeated this radical group.”

“Today’s cruel and cowardly terrorist attack on innocent people by the morally bankrupt and criminal Al-Shabab group cannot discourage us, but will further strengthen our resolve to defeat them once and for all.” “Our government and brave people will continue to defend Somalia against evil,” added the president.

Yesterday’s horrific bombings at the country’s education headquarters are a grim reminder of how brutal and lethal Al-Shabaab can be, but with the current uprising against the group, the Somali people hope and pray that the terrorist group will one day be wiped out of the face of the Horn of Africa nation.
